Abstract
Purpose: To compare the Canon RK?5 (Cannon, Tokyo, Japan) and VISX WaveScan¨Þ system (Wavescan, VISX, Sunnyvale, CA, USA) for measuring refractive error in myopia.

Methods: There are no catatact, corneal opacity, and medium opacity visit to our haspital in simple myopia 256 eyes of 130 patients, we divided myopia of more than spherical equvalent 6.0 D high myopia group1 and less than spherical equvalent 6.0 D myopia group 2. Cycloplegic refractions were performed in myopia eyes using both the Canon RK?5 and VISX WaveScan¨Þ system. Refractive data were analyzed using power vectors. Mean differences and 95% limits of agreement were determined for refractive components between the two instruments.

Results: Mean paired differences for M component (spherical equivalent) and J0 component between the Canon RK?5 and VISX WaveScan¨Þ system were £¼0.30 D, £¼0.10 D in high myopia group and myopia group there were statistically significant difference (p=0.000). J45 were no statistically significant difference in in high myopia group and myopia group (p=0.750, 0.089).

Conclusions: The VISX WaveScan¨Þ system was an easy to use for the measurement of refractive error in myopia. VISX WaveScan¨Þ system showed devaluation than Canon RK?5 for measuring refractive error in myopia. We need to exclude small axis change and refractive error by misalignment during measurement.
